Sri Lankan President likely to meet former President to discuss religious harmony in the country

President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa has reportedly agreed to meet former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga following a request made by the former President.

She has requested for a meeting with the President to discuss religious harmony in the country.

An English daily reported today that the President has agreed to meet the former President after she had made a request for the second time.

Kumaratunga had previously in a letter to Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga requested for an appointment to meet the President to discuss religious harmony in the country.

She then told the media after a meeting with the Opposition Leader that she had not received a positive response to her request for a meeting with the President.

Kumaratunga had reportedly sent a letter directly to the President seeking an appointment.
