Cabinet nods feasibility study for photovoltaic power station


The Cabinet approval has been granted to perform a feasibility study for construction of a 100 Mw Solar Park in Siyambalanduwa, Monaragala. 

The proposal was submitted by Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya. “There is currently a global trend in generating electricity through renewable energy sources and a priority has been given to solar power. 

Accordingly, Solar Power Plants of 11.3 MW are being connected national grid and about 30 MW are being generated under net metering. Various projects have been implemented to improve the use of solar power and it has been planned to construct 03 Solar Parks with 100 MW each,” the govt. announced.
